We have all heard the old adage, “Love the sinner, hate the sin”. In this episode, we propose a better alternative. Love People, Hate Sin.
This episode comes on the heels of our first ever merchandise launch (which can be found HERE), which carries these words in a simplistic print. The goal being to inspire you, and equip you with tools that promote Christ-likeness in everyday life.
The saying is inspired primarily by a verse in the Bible (for more info on that, CLICK HERE, and to find out more about how we approach the Bible, CLICK HERE). 1 Corinthians 13:6 reads:
[Love] does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.”
The basis of this entire passage of scripture is our love for one another. It is crucial that we understand that the more we love people, the more we will learn to hate sin naturally, “because quite frankly, sin is bad for people”.
Is there any difference between ‘love the sinner, hate the sin’, and our proposition, ‘love people, hate sin’?
